Queen Caroline Commemorative plate. Circa 1820
This is an usual commemorative pottery plate, measuring 7.75cms. In the centre is a circle measuring 8cms in diameter, with the caption “Long Live Caroline”. The pro- Caroline sentiment is blatant, and striking as it is written in silver lustre. The rest of the body is silver resist lustre, presented in the form of leaves, vines and ivy. The item is in excellent condition, with a clean clear bright glaze, and any fading in the lustre contemporary with its age and method of manufacture. There are no chips, cracks or restoration. The plate is in excellent condition.
